WHO IS LORI D. SOTELO AND WHY DOESN'T SHE WANT ME TO VOTE?
--from one of the 1,944 GOP-Challenged Voters

Subject: Who is Lori Sotelo and why doesn't she want me to vote?
My name is Kathleen Dolan and I am a voter in the 36th district.
I have lived at the same address--11 West Smith--for 30 years.
Yesterday I received a registered letter from a "Lori Sotelo" in Mercer
Island challenging my right to vote. No factual basis was given for
this challenge, issued through the County office of voter registration.
I learned yesterday that over 1900 voters have received a similar
letter--an unprecedented number, according to the county.
My vote on Tuesday will therefore be classified as questionably
legitimate, a "challenged vote", though there is no basis for this
in fact; my legitimate residence is easy to verify since I have voted
and paid taxes from this address for 30 years. This is a political
maneuver that needs to be investigated and exposed.
Thanks for your attention,
Kathleen Dolan

Re: Voter Registration Challenge Letters dated November 1, 2005
You may have been a recipient of a Voter Registration Challenge from King County Records and Elections, made by the King County Republican Senior Vice Chair, in charge of their “Voter Integrity Project”, Lori D. Sotelo.
We encourage you to exercise your right to vote – by absentee ballot or at the polls. This type of intimidation and obstructionism has been used for years across this land, trying to discourage people from voting. VOTE!
Your vote may be flagged as challenged, counted after all other votes are counted and/or sent to a hearing board. The challenger, Ms. Sotelo, has to prove that your residence is incorrect.
If you do need to change your address, you may make a telephone call to King County Records and Elections – 206.296.8683 – to change the address. Do this before Election Day, Tuesday November 8, 2005.
Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t vote!
Democratically yours,
Susan C. Sheary
KCDCC Chair
